Ben Moreno Bio
My name is Ben Moreno. I was born somwhere in California. My story starts like this, as a kid I started off into sports and video games. I had a seemingly natural affinity for taking electronic things apart and playing around with their internal parts. I often used to jump into random dumpsters and make use of things that other people thought was junk.
Some Facts About Me
When I was twelve years old I worked for my neighbor doing chores for summer cash. Often when I was done working I would play the very first SimCity pc game he had on his computer. I really liked that game a lot. One day I came over and noticed a computer sitting outside on his lawn by the trash. I asked him why he was throwing it away and he said it was old and I could not do anything with it. He also told me that I could not play Simcity on it either. I asked him for the computer anyway. It was a 286mhz IBM compatible computer with no hard drive in it, just a 5.25″ floppy drive and it had a monochrome monitor.
Two weeks later I returned to his house. During that time I had self taught myself MS-DOS 3.3. I showed him all of the stuff I learned, along with some ways to optimize his own computer. I showed him that I was also able to make Simcity work on the computer also (in black and white, but hey!). He was fascinated by my discoveries and praised me for learning so much already. Within the next few weeks I self taught myself QBASIC and began writing my own programs. Over the next few years I began learning everything about computers, from the way they are built to how to network them, etc. As the years went by I continued to sharpen my skills.
After high school I joined the Navy and lived on a Navy ship for 3 years then later was activated out of the reserves into the war in Iraq, OIF II. During my Navy tour I got to visit some interesting places in the world. I have been to Florida, New York, Puerto Rico, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Columbia, Brazil, Argentina, St. Thomas, The Bahamas and Kuwait.
I went to college at DeVry University in Long Beach, CA where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Management.
After college I went to work in the corporate world and gained experience working in Information Technology jobs. I have experience in help desk, desktop support, networking and IT management. I have worked in the Fashion, Entertainment and Information Technology industries so far.
Besides being a total computer geek I like to attack or make fun of a lot of the BS we are forced to deal with as Americans. I was born here and have lived here 90% of my life and have served in the military so don’t talk to me about being a true American. I am not leaving either, this BS was here before me and I will try to change it somehow.
About This Blog
Desktop Support is what I currently do for a living but I enjoy reading then writing then having you read about technology, society, military and mixed martial arts, engaging in social media websites, trying out different ways to make money online, affiliate marketing, and playing PC games. Sorry but this blog doesn’t really have a topic, I write about anything that I think is interesting or think that you may think is interesting because I thought it was.
I like sharing my experiences with others. I believe that knowledge should be spread and not kept inside. As far as who I am as a person, I like to leave it up to people to say who I am, as their judgment helps me define who I am.
If you are also into social media be sure to check out my other profiles and connect with me. I am an active user on numerous social media sites. Check out the sidebar for the links.
If you actually enjoy reading what I write then you would make me really happy by subscribing to my feed. Don’t worry I will never spam your email or give it out to anyone, but I might use it to sell you something down the road.
If you are feeling generous you can donate through paypal. I added this recently because I found out that there are people out there who really will give you money for no reason.
Thanks for reading.
