7 of the Best Oldies Songs Ever Made

    Saturday, October 4th, 2008

When I was young my parents enchanted me with the wonderful music of 50’s and 60’s.  Most of my aunts and uncles were born in the 50’s and 60’s.  This music was from their time of growing up.  Oldies are undying classics.  No matter how much music changes, the music that came out of this era was in my opinion, probably the best music ever made in America.

Recently I was flying around Youtube and collecting videos of some of my favorite songs which I am glad to share with you here.  Enjoy!

Love is Here and Now You Are Gone
    Diana Ross and the Supremes

I Only Have Eyes for You
    The Platters

    There Goes My Baby
    The Drifters

Save The Last Dance For Me
    Ben E. King

Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood (I sing this one Kareoke Often)
    The Animals

    Going Out of My Head
    Little Anthony and the Imperials

    Tears Of A Clown
    Smoky Robinson and The Miracles

It was tough to stop at just 7.  There were so many other great songs made during the 50’s and 60’s that this list could have easily went to 100!

I hope you enjoy these songs like I have through the years.

Cold Play – Sparks. One of my Favorite Songs of All Time.

    Cold Play - Sparks

This song with a glass of chardonnay inspired me to write this post.

My son Logan has a weakness for this song as well.  I often use this as a tool to get him to sleep at night.  I was thinking, the other day, that I never sang this song in Karaeoki (Spelled this right the first time!!) before.

I think I am ready now.  Show me the bar that has it!

Of course let me give a shout out to the person who uploaded this video to YouTube.

Jose Luis, thank you for providing this video.  God speed!

A Post For Dustin – About That Metallica Song.

    Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Me and my friend Dustin carpool to work everyday.  I few weeks ago I heard the song “The day that never comes” by Metallica on the KROQ radio station and I liked it.  Yesterday we were listening to the new Metallica album in the car on the way home from work and I showed him this song.

We went back and forth with arguments on Metallica’s latest performance’s, how they are not like their original self, etc.  I was trying to sell him on this song because I think it is good.

He started telling me about how today’s artists don’t really feel the pain and suffering of today’s teenagers, which ultimately hurts their performance in the market.  I could tell that this realization was forcing him to deny the song.

I agreed with him that in some cases that this was true.  However, he asked me what the song was about and I did now know at the time.  He said, “exactly”.  I tried to start listening to the words but I could not tell what the song was about until I saw this video today on YouTube.

That is why this post is for Dustin.  Dude, you wanted to know what this song was about?  Well, here it is.  I think it is pretty good!

YouTube videos are notorious for disappearing.  If you notice this video doesn’t work please contact me.  Thanks.  Enjoy!

Thanks to warnerbrosrecords for posting this on YouTube!

Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston – When You Believe

    Thursday, August 7th, 2008

First let me thank IceyReckless on youtube for posting this video.

This duet of musical talent is probably the best there has been in the last 20 years or more.  I get endless chills throughout this whole song.  Call me gay, but I can’t help it.  These chicks are two of the greatest of all time.  Both have rediculous voices that can make even the toughest person stop and stare.  They can make a hungry dog jump off of the back of a meat truck.  They can make a steam train take a dirt road.  Enjoy!
