The Refusal To Draw A Full Vagina On Carl Sagan’s Plaque

    Monday, February 1st, 2010

You see, it’s things like this that really bother me!

First off, if you are not familiar with what I am talking about then let me explain.  Carl Sagan is an American Astrophysicist and has worked with NASA for many years .  At one point he designed this plaque that was going to be attached to the Pioneer spacecraft in 1972.

The plaque was an attempt at communicating with extraterrestrial beings.  Carl Sagan, thought up the best possible way to communicate with other beings and the plaque was designed for that purpose.  The plaque had various drawings engraved in it.  One of which was the drawing of both the man and female bodies.

Read this disturbing passage from Wikipedia:

“There was an issue with the drawing of the female genitalia however.   If you look at the plaque you can see that the woman’s genitals are not really depicted; only the mons veneris is shown. It has been claimed that Sagan, having little time to complete the plaque, suspected that NASA would have rejected a more intricate drawing and therefore made a compromise just to be safe.  However, according to Mark Wolverton’s more detailed account, the original design included a “short line indicating the woman’s vulva.”  It was erased as condition for approval by John Naugle, former head of NASA’s Office of Space Science and the agency’s former chief scientist.”

    Stupid right?!

Why would an alien species give a good god damn about how another beings genitals are depicted?!  I seriously doubt another intelligent being would share the same biased opinions as NASA’s approval department.  I hope that someday this plaque is discovered by another species and once we get in contact with them we can have NASA’s team explain to them how they make decisions such as this.

How embarrassingly unintelligent our species would seem to them.  They would probably look at us as another pathetic un-evolved species in the universe.  They would probably think to themselves, “How has this species survived this long so far?”

Now….I know some of you might think I am making too big of a deal about this, but where do we draw the line? No pun intended :)

Do YOU Think There Are Really Aliens Out There?

    Saturday, March 7th, 2009

This age old question is something that has pondered the many minds of the world for decades I am sure.  Well, we may just be in luck of finding actual life in the near future.

Nasa has announced that they have just launched a spacecraft called, Kepler into space on March 6th, 2009.  They launched it from Cocoa Beach, FL.  The rocket was named after a German 17th century astrophysicist.  Keler’s mission will last about 3 1/2 years and will cost $600 million.  The mission is to find earth like planets in the Milky Way galaxy.  Planets that are floating around stars and may have water on them which could mean life.

Are There Aliens Out There?I wrote this article while back talking about how they think thewre are hundereds of planets close by that could be like earth.  Perhaps Kepler may be able to uncover the possible secrets in this area,  The article says that scientists expect to have an answer by 2020.  Well, Kepler’s mission is only 3 1/2 years so it would be awesome if we had an answer by 2012 1/2.

Well, the title of this post is "Do YOU Think There Are Really Aliens Out There."  I what to know what you think about this subject.  I know many people think that there is no way there can be other intelligent life forms out there because of religious reasons and others.  Other people think there are aliens for sure.  While even others think they were abducted by aliens before!  Regardless of your reason I would like to know what you think.

So do you think that in all of that space out there we are simply all alone?  Or do you think there are many worlds just like ours?  I look forward to discussing this with you.
