I Climbed Back On The Twitter Wagon

    Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Well, it looks like I just couldn’t stay away from Twitter.  It is actually fun now.  Why?  I unfollowed about 600 people, that’s why.  I realized that the follow back strategy just doesn’t work.  Plus it is literally impossible to stay in touch with 600 people.  Turns out most of the people I was following were just spammers anyway.

Yes, I actually took the time out to unfollow 600 people.  It didn’t take as long as you would think.  There are some scripts out there that supposedly can do it for you but I am just a little uncomfortable about giving out my profile password like that.

So now I try to keep my following to a minimum.  It really makes Twitter more enjoyable.  Slowly over time as I build relationships with people I am sure I will start to follow more people.  Or if the people I am already following become boring lol.

I still think that Twitter won’t last forever.  It just seems like it is a hot item now and will fade eventually like most of the social media sites.  Of course I could be wrong.  We will see.

So if you took the time to read this post, why not follow me on Twitter and we can tweet.  Who knows you may find out that I might actually have some interesting things to say.

Twitter ClickBank Spammers Are Driving Me Crazy!

    Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Sorry folks but I just have to rant!  I am sure you may be having this problem as well.  This post is to all of those people out there who are creating one of the following Twitter profiles.

Gain Subscribers Automatically – I get followed by many Twitter users who claim they can show you how to gain thousands of followers on autopilot over night.  Most of the time their profile will link directly to some clickbank product pitch page.  This is really annoying.  I am not interested in these programs!  I don’t need thousands of followers.  I am not that worried about this social proof.  Especially when half of my followers are automated spam profiles.

Make Money From Twitter on Autopilot – Again another automated or spammy affiliate program offer of some sort.  Too bad there are that many clueless people out there that actually buy these programs.  What is even more amazing is how many different people there are recycling the same old stuff to make money online.

Make Money Online in General – These profiles can range from affiliate products to social media techniques to multi level marketing schemes.  Everyone is trying to make money online!  EVERYONE!  I know because I went through the same painful process of finding out the truth regarding this idea.  The Internet has become a garbage dump of marketing schemes.

People need to understand that because of the massive amount of blogs and websites competing for the same stuff it is very unlikely you will be able to get enough attention to make any real money.  The only way I have seen to really make money is by using niche websites, otherwise you need either a really unique product or you need to know the right people.  Using niche sites is a lot of work too it takes a lot of research to find the niches, not to mention the time it takes to write good enough content that works.

So please people, stop auto-following me and filling my inbox with the same emails of things I am not interested in.  I am looking for real humans out there with a mind for other subjects.  We don’t need to make money off of each other.  We need to learn from each other.  Thank you!

Helpful Twitter Tip for People With Multiple Websites.

    Friday, January 16th, 2009

Some people have multiple websites that they update regularly.  Maybe you have many social media or social network profiles, multiple blogs, a store website and more.  It would be nice to promote them all on Twitter at the same time.  You definitely don’t want to spam people with all of your profiles on a regular basis because that would piss people off.

    Centralize Your Content

Instead you can promote them all with ease by using this technique.  If you have a blog then write a nice detailed and professional looking page, explaining all of your sites, social media profiles, etc. with links to them all.  Call the page, “My Network” or something of that nature.

Leverage The Page Link With Your Twitter Profile

Then take the link to the page and put it in the section of your Twitter profile where it asks for your website.  This way when you meet someone and they want to click on your link they will be exposed to all of the websites in your network instead of just one.  This is a good technique for when you meet new people.  This will give them a nice page to link to for all of the resources that you offer.  All of your links to all of your sites will be on there so it also acts a a quick way to copy and paste links for whatever purposes you desire.

I Used Twitter All Day Today.

    Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Twitter LogoDo you use Social Media programs?  Ever heard of Twitter?  If you didn’t know, Twitter is a micro blogging platform where users from all over the world can interact with each other in real time.  You can even use it from mobil devices as well.  It is a much more real time social media but at the same time offline as well.  Put another way, It is like a combination of chatting, myspace and texting in one platform. It may not be the best it can be just yet, but it is growing fast and is changing regularly.

Today was the first time I used Twitter almost the entire day.  Mainly because I needed to get some various answers to a question I was asking about Twitter itself to write a blog post.  Twitter is a very good enhancement for bloggers and business people.  You can interact all day long with people if you want or just drop in once and awhile and give a useful link that you found.

I recently added a widget to show my following on Twitter to this blog and would like to help spread the word about Twitter.  I wish I could get all my friends and family to use Twitter but they are all stuck on Myspace.  Don’t get me wrong, Myspace is still great but Twitter is much more rewarding I think.  I think in time I may be able to get them to see the benefit.  Here is an example of a Twitter widget you can use on your website.

So if you haven’t got a chance to check it out, you should.  Twitter may seem dull at first but once you really start interacting with people on it it can be a rewarding and fun experience.  At least check it out and if you don’t like it then you can always fall back on your Myspace or Facebook.  If you do decide to use Twitter, be sure to follow me so I can follow you and we can interact.  Have fun!
