No actually, there are no utopian societies. All societies are emergent. This idea is to make the world a much better place than it is now. There can never be a utopia. Imagine the huge difference in the world if we were able to provide ALL of the world's people with everything they need. This is what they are talking about. The idea is to simply focus technology in the direction of helping people instead of hurting people.

Essentially what you are talking about is incentive. This is a common question we get all the time. Many people throughout society have made huge contributions simply because they wanted to. The idea is to free humanity from tedious labor all together. Once people are educated to realize that their labor not only will benefit them but it benefits the society as a whole. If you have a system that is setup to benefit all people then the harder you work at it to make life better for everyone then you are essentially making it better for yourself as well.

Also, keep in mind all of the people throughout history that have made the largest contributions to society simply because they wanted to. The huge contributions Albert Einstein made to society were not based on the want for money.

You should take a look at the FAQ on the site. I had many questions when I first started reading about this and I found answers to a lot of them there. http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com/joomla/index.php?Itemid=65#20

Thank you for the question. Everything should always be questioned.

Dude, managing natural resources is fine and all, but what is the motivation for a guy to work hard in order to allocate those resources? If you don't have carrots and sticks in place to encourage positive behavior, you're just going to push the monetary system underground, or have some kind of stupid inefficient barter economy. I'd like to hear a response on how this Zeitgeist thing addresses that.

Great post. Thanks for posting it. Very true with what you have said. I am very excited about this movement. I hope to see it come to fruition within my lifetime.

Take care,
