Once people are educated to realize that their labor not only will benefit them but it benefits the society as a whole. If you have a system that is setup to benefit all people then the harder you work at it to make life better for everyone then you are essentially making it better for yourself as well. Also, keep in mind all of the people throughout history that have made the largest contributions to society simply because they wanted to. If you don't have carrots and sticks in place to encourage positive behavior, you're just going to push the monetary system underground, or have some kind of stupid inefficient barter economy. I'd like to hear a response on how this Zeitgeist thing addresses that.
